Don't you hate it when you fall head over heels in love with a TV show, only to have it stop running? Or worse, you discover a show during a binge search, catch up on all the past seasons, and when you go to queue up the next season you realize it's done. Over. No more! It happens a lot, and it stings every time. Especially with shows from across the pond! We're a little slow on the uptake when it comes to British television, and we often get shows later on streaming devices. But once again, we fall in love, anxiously await the next season, and BAM!

The Brits break our hearts by telling us that ship has sailed. Millions of fans of Downton Abbey know that pain all too well. The British drama wrapped in 2015, but we didn't get to say goodbye until 2016. And what a painful goodbye it was! Luckily for Downton fans, there's a bit more of that good ol' Crawley family drama to come. Not in the form of another season of the show, but something even better: a full-length movie! The first trailer for Downton Abbey the movie has dropped, and oh goodness, it looks amazing.

Last we checked in with the Downton gang, it was all happy endings. Edith finally got married, Anna and Bates get the baby they'd always wanted, Barrow finally lands his coveted butler gig, and the Dowager Countess was her usual witty self. The movie picks up a couple of years after the end of the show, in 1927.

Downton is preparing for a very special visit from King George V and Queen Mary, albeit on a much leaner budget. And of course, the original cast is reprising their roles, with Maggie Smith as the Countess, Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael as Mary and Edith, and Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern as Lord and Lady Grantham.

The trailer looks amazing, and it's full of plenty of the droll British humor, drama, and beauty that we fell in love with during the show. Downton Abbey hits theaters September 20, 2019. That means you have plenty of time to binge the series and catch up with old favorites before falling in love with them all over again.
