Pregnancy Checklist. Week #24
1. I’m lining up my postpartum help. I’ve talked with friends and family, and I’ve scheduled people to help with house cleaning and meals after baby arrives. I want to make sure I can get all the rest I need to recover after giving birth.
2. I had my glucose screening to test for gestational diabetes. Drinking sugar water for breakfast is not as much fun as it sounds!
3. I’m trying to take good care of my back. I’ve stopped lifting anything heavy, and I’m trying to sit up straight and practice good posture. I’ve also quit wearing high heels — I’ve got a comfortable pair of flats instead.

4. I’m making space for my new maternity wardrobe. I went through my clothes and put all my skinny jeans in storage for a while. I know it will probably take me at least nine months to lose the baby weight!
5. Kick kick kick! Just a few weeks ago I was waiting to feel my baby’s first movement, but now it’s becoming constant. I’ve started feeling regular, definite movements, and I’m trying to get used to falling asleep while my tummy is wiggling.
6. I’ve started trying a delicious trick to prevent heartburn: I’m eating a vanilla milkshake every day.
7. My baby is already starting to disturb my sleep, so I’ve thought about my philosophy on sleep training. My partner and I have talked about where we want baby to sleep for the first few months, whether we want to sleep train once our doctor says baby is old enough, and what method (if any) we want to use.

Pregnancy Checklist. Week #14
1. Could I be nesting already? I’ve organized old files, cleaned out the storage closet, and put away things like old photographs.
2. I’m researching childcare. If I plan to go back to work after baby, I’ve decided whether I want to use a daycare or a nanny, and I’ve looked into the choices in my area.
3. My body needs a lot of iron to make all the extra blood I need during pregnancy. My doctor tested my iron levels to make sure they’re not low.

4. Boy or girl? My partner and I have talked about whether we want to find out in an ultrasound or wait till later for the big reveal.
5. I’m aware of my work environment and how it might affect my baby. I’m avoiding toxic chemicals, heavy loads, or standing for long periods.
6. My baby will be able to hear me soon! I’ve already started talking to my baby and playing my favorite tunes for him.
7. If I want an amniocentesis, I’ve talked to my doctor, and it’s scheduled it for between weeks 14 and 20.

Pregnancy Checklist. Week #13
1. I’ve signed up for prenatal yoga classes! These are a great way to keep exercising and stretching throughout pregnancy — and they’re good preparation for labor, too.
2. I’m brainstorming baby names. I’ve started to make a list of my favorite names (and a list the names I absolutely won’t consider!) and my partner has, too.
3. No more back or stomach sleeping for me — I’m sleeping only on my left side. (Good thing I already got that pregnancy pillow!)

4. My rugs are pregnancy-proofed. I put non-slip pads under all of them to make sure I don’t slip and fall. (These will be useful when I have a toddler, too!)
5. The Great Diaper Question: cloth or disposable? My partner and I have talked about which we want to do (and we looked into diaper services in our area, too).
6. Secondhand baby gear is the easiest way to get everything I need! I’ve asked friends and family if they have any baby clothes or gear they’re willing to pass on to me. But I know that my crib, carseat, and breast pump should all be new, not used.
7. Baby weight! I’ve gained at least 2-5 pounds at this point — but it’s mostly the baby’s support system, not the baby.
