1. My baby is going places! Victoria is starting to roll, scoot, and even crawl. Suddenly Victoria is getting into everything! I’ve followed Victoria around the house to spot anything that isn’t safe for a baby to explore, and I’ve made sure everything dangerous is out of reach or securely locked.
2. I don’t have to puree baby’s foods anymore. Victoria can chew well, so I just boil food so it’s soft and mash it with a fork. My baby is practically eating with the family!
3. I’m still careful about which foods I give baby. I wait several days between introducing new foods, and I keep track of what foods Victoria is eating. That way, if baby has an allergic reaction, I’ll know which food caused it.

4. I feel like I’m busy all the time these days, but I try to make time to take care of myself, too. Even a quick shower does wonders for how I feel!
5. I’m making time for some “alone time” with my partner this week. Scheduling it may not be romantic, but it’s the only way to make it happen these days! We both know baby could interrupt, so we’re prepared to be flexible.
6. Now that baby’s mobile, Victoria bumps her head constantly on the floor and on furniture. I know how to recognize a concussion, and I know what signs mean I should call my doctor or take Victoria to the ER.
7. Baby puts everything in Victoria’s mouth these days, and sometimes I find random things in Victoria’s diaper a few days later! I know what symptoms would mean something’s stuck in his digestive tract.

1. My baby got Victoria’s first vaccination — a dose of Hepatitis B that’s given at birth. I also scheduled my baby’s first doctor appointment.
2. Who knew poop would ever be so interesting? I’m counting my baby’s diapers to make sure Victoria has at least 6 wet ones and 3 dirty ones every 24 hours.
3. I’m hungrier now than I was when I was pregnant! I need 300-500 extra calories if I’m breastfeeding, so I’m eating at least 2,000 calories every day.

4. We’re ready to bring baby home! I washed all the baby clothes and bedding in a hypoallergenic detergent that’s designed not to irritate baby’s sensitive skin.
5. This hospital underwear is pretty practical. I’ve bought some disposable underwear of my own and some extra-long pads to protect me during postpartum bleeding.
6. I’ve got a postpartum support belt or wrap to support my belly as I’m healing. If I had a C-section, I’ve also bought some scar healing cream with vitamin E.
7. If I plan to bottle feed, then I’ve got the right equipment. My newborn needs small, 4 oz bottles and stage 1 nipples. I’ve also got a bottle brush to keep my bottles clean.
