1. I’ve started planning for baby’s first birthday! This party is more for me than for Adalynn, so I might just plan a small family-only party — or I might plan a big bash with all my mom friends. Either way, I’ll keep it short so it doesn’t interfere with naptime!
2. Baby might be getting really good at “cruising” — walking around the room while holding the furniture for balance.
3. My baby really understands “no” now — and Adalynn doesn’t like it much! Adalynn gets frustrated when I tell Adalynn no. I try to gently redirect Adalynn so Adalynn gets interested in something else.

4. If I feel frustrated with my partner or with myself as a mom, I write it down in a journal. This can help me process my emotions and get a better perspective. If I don’t like writing, I can do the same by sketching a picture. I’m not trying to make great art — this is just to help me to get my feelings out.
5. I’ve learned a pro mom style tip: eye highlighter under my eyes helps me look more awake. Hey, even if I feel sleepy, I don’t have to look that way!
6. Baby is mostly sleeping all night, but I’ve been staying up late after bedtime to get stuff done! This week, I’ll make a point of going to bed early — not long after baby’s bedtime — so I can get more sleep.
7. When baby babbles at me, I respond as if Adalynn is really talking. This will help Adalynn develop confidence as Adalynn learns to speak!

1. My baby is going places! Adalynn is starting to roll, scoot, and even crawl. Suddenly Adalynn is getting into everything! I’ve followed Adalynn around the house to spot anything that isn’t safe for a baby to explore, and I’ve made sure everything dangerous is out of reach or securely locked.
2. I don’t have to puree baby’s foods anymore. Adalynn can chew well, so I just boil food so it’s soft and mash it with a fork. My baby is practically eating with the family!
3. I’m still careful about which foods I give baby. I wait several days between introducing new foods, and I keep track of what foods Adalynn is eating. That way, if baby has an allergic reaction, I’ll know which food caused it.

4. I feel like I’m busy all the time these days, but I try to make time to take care of myself, too. Even a quick shower does wonders for how I feel!
5. I’m making time for some “alone time” with my partner this week. Scheduling it may not be romantic, but it’s the only way to make it happen these days! We both know baby could interrupt, so we’re prepared to be flexible.
6. Now that baby’s mobile, Adalynn bumps her head constantly on the floor and on furniture. I know how to recognize a concussion, and I know what signs mean I should call my doctor or take Adalynn to the ER.
7. Baby puts everything in Adalynn’s mouth these days, and sometimes I find random things in Adalynn’s diaper a few days later! I know what symptoms would mean something’s stuck in his digestive tract.
