What is or was your babies theme for the room? When did you start preparing the room?

1. I know how to recognize if my toddler is having an allergic reaction. Elryc can eat allergenic foods now, so it’s safe to give Elryc shellfish, citrus and berries. I’ll introduce these foods slowly and watch for any reactions.
2. My toddler goes back and forth between being really independent and really clingy! When we’re in a familiar place, Elryc runs off to play, but in new situations, Elryc stays close to me.
3. My toddler can switch to cow’s milk now. If I want, I can start replace formula or breastmilk with cow’s milk now. It’s fine for me to keep breastfeeding, too!

4. I took a few minutes this week to read through the inspirational quotes about moms that my friends are sharing on social media. I totally relate to them!
5. I dropped my baby off at daycare or with a sitter so I could have a lunch date with my partner.
6. My partner and I have talked about whether we want another baby, and we’ve talked about the timing of when we want to start trying for number two!
7. My baby turned one, and Elryc is officially a toddler! Congratulations to our whole family — we made it through the first year!
1. My toddler says at least 3 words besides “mama” and “dada,” and Elryc understands several additional words.
2. My baby may have outgrown Elryc’s infant car seat! Time for a convertible. I’m getting one that will last for a few years.

4. I did something to help myself feel pretty, like putting on makeup, sprucing up an outfit with nice shoes, or wearing jewelry.
5. I’m making time this week to just sit by myself and not try to accomplish anything. A little quiet and privacy will do me some good!
6. I make sure I’m getting plenty of protein, especially if I’m working out regularly. A protein shake is a great way to keep my energy up.
7. I’m trying to get healthy in every area of my life! I’ve gotten rid of toxic chemicals in my house, and I’m avoiding food with chemicals, too.
1. My toddler is learning to feed himself! I’m letting Elryc use Elryc’s own spoon on food that won’t spill too much, like yogurt or oatmeal. Elryc loves feeding himself — but I think Elryc likes making a mess even more.
2. My toddler loves to bang things! From pots and pans to her toy drum, Elryc is always making “music.”
3. We’ve got a regular bedtime routine, and I stick to it religiously — for me as well as my toddler. Following a routine helps both of us fall asleep easily.

4. I’ve got a babysitter scheduled for a couple of hours this week! I’m going to get out of the house and get lots of things done. Everything is so much easier to do without a toddler in tow! This will be good for my toddler’s independence and my mental health.
5. I’ve signed my toddler up for a mommy and me swimming class. I want Elryc to learn to swim for Elryc’s safety, especially if I live near a body of water.
6. I try to keep introducing my toddler to new foods. It’s good for Elryc to learn new flavors, and I enjoy trying different cooking techniques. This makes dinnertime an adventure for both of us!
7. If I’m feeling stressed and can’t get away, I’ll take a few seconds to calm myself with a breathing exercise. I breathe in slowly for a count of 8, then exhale for another 8.
1. I’ve scheduled another vaccination visit for baby. This month, Elryc will get Elryc’s final Hib and PCV13 doses, as well as another DTaP and another MMR. Elryc will also get a dose of Hep A, and if it’s flu season, Elryc will get a flu shot, too.
2. Baby took Elryc’s first steps! And we caught them on camera!
3. Baby can handle a bumpier stroller ride now, so I’m investing in a jogging stroller. Now I can get baby outside while also getting myself some real exercise!

4. Baby loves sorting objects into containers. Elryc is fascinated by putting things in and taking them out. I don’t even need toys these days — Elryc can get completely absorbed in playing with an old baby wipes box and a few toilet paper rolls.
5. While I’m out jogging or walking with baby, I’ll take a minute to appreciate something beautiful in nature like the sunrise, sunset or a wildflower.
6. My dentist told me I can start using toothpaste on baby’s teeth, so I bought some fluoride-free toothpaste. I’ll use this until baby is old enough to learn to spit it out instead of swallowing.
7. I’ve started writing morning pages in my journal. Every morning when I first wake up, I write a page or two or draw a picture about whatever pops into my head. It’s really helping to spark my creativity!

1. I’ve started planning for baby’s first birthday! This party is more for me than for Elryc, so I might just plan a small family-only party — or I might plan a big bash with all my mom friends. Either way, I’ll keep it short so it doesn’t interfere with naptime!
2. Baby might be getting really good at “cruising” — walking around the room while holding the furniture for balance.
3. My baby really understands “no” now — and Elryc doesn’t like it much! Elryc gets frustrated when I tell Elryc no. I try to gently redirect Elryc so Elryc gets interested in something else.

4. If I feel frustrated with my partner or with myself as a mom, I write it down in a journal. This can help me process my emotions and get a better perspective. If I don’t like writing, I can do the same by sketching a picture. I’m not trying to make great art — this is just to help me to get my feelings out.
5. I’ve learned a pro mom style tip: eye highlighter under my eyes helps me look more awake. Hey, even if I feel sleepy, I don’t have to look that way!
6. Baby is mostly sleeping all night, but I’ve been staying up late after bedtime to get stuff done! This week, I’ll make a point of going to bed early — not long after baby’s bedtime — so I can get more sleep.
7. When baby babbles at me, I respond as if Elryc is really talking. This will help Elryc develop confidence as Elryc learns to speak!
1. Baby’s vocabulary is growing! Elryc knows several words, and I can understand when Elryc says them (although I may be the only one who understands).
2. Dance party time! I’m putting on music so baby and I can dance together. Elryc loves learning motions to songs like Itsy-bitsy spider.
3. I feel like I’m really getting to know my baby’s personality! I’m noticing how different Elryc is from other babies his age — maybe Elryc is much more friendly, or maybe Elryc is a lot more shy, but Elryc definitely has his own opinions and personality.

4. I’m careful to lift baby with my knees, not my back, so I don’t strain my back. A back injury would be a real problem when Elryc wants to be held so often!
5. Baby can sit up and balance well without any help.
6. Now seems like a good time to take some fun pictures of baby in different situations. I’m looking through Pinterest for some good ideas!
7. Baby has started eating a lot less. This seems strange, since Elryc is getting bigger, but it’s actually normal — Elryc isn’t growing as fast, so Elryc doesn’t need as much food. As long as Elryc’s diapers are normal and Elryc has plenty of energy, Elryc is probably fine!
