5 month old baby feeding: should I start solids?

I would make sure that the baby can first hold its own head up steady and can sit up without support cause when feeding you want to make sure that they do not choke. Start with rice cereal mash up fruit and veggies almost like applesauce you don't want it to thick or to watery.


Many pediatricians are recommending that babies start solids at 6 months of age, but some people like to start as early as 4 months. When starting solids its best to start with oat, rice or barley cereal. Then vegetables such as green peas, sweet potatoes and acorn squash. For fruit try pears, apples, avocados and bananas.
