How to prevent babies from suffocating

I was afraid of pillows.. for suffocation reasons.. But when my son was about 1 year.. and half.. his crib looked so.. uncompfy and he wasn't sleeping well.. I put a standard pillow in there and he sure did curl right up on it and I swear.. slept like a baby.

I think the key is to make sure that they're able to get it off their heads and so they don't get trapped..


when our little ones have a cough, we try to take a pool noodle or a couple pillows or something and put them under the mattress on one side, giving them a slightly inclined surface to sleep on. It works great without making them uncomfortable and without adding anything to a crib (in a baby's case) that could pose a suffocation risk.
