Yes they are..

I've used several different kinds of home pregnancy tests (HPTs). When I was trying to conceive, I decided to save money by buying several HPTs at a dollar store. The dollar store HPTs were pretty accurate. I seem to recall the big difference was that the process involved an extra step of peeing into a cup and then dipping the stick into it.

Once I thought there was a faint positive, I bought a digital HPT. I can't remember the brand but it was the one that clearly states Pregnant and Not Pregnant. I had to see the Pregnant confirmation to make it official. Digital HPTs are also accurate, however, they cost a lot more money, I want to say $10 for 1 or 2 HPTs.

If you're going through a lot of HPTs and you're trying to conceive, you might be better off using the dollar store tests.
