Body mass index doesn't mean very much in a baby. In a baby it is important to monitor their height and weight growth over time. There is a large range or normal and it is plotted on a chart and assigned a percentile. It is important for your baby to grow on their own curve. It is ok for a baby to be fat and in most cases it is perfectly healthy.
