Baby gulping air when feeding: Is this normal?

If your baby is breastfeeding then your baby doesn't have a deep enough latch. I highly recommend seeing a lactation consult for help in correcting your baby's latch. Make sure when your baby latches on that she opens her mouth very wide and takes a large amount of the areola into her mouth.

If your baby is bottle feeding I recommend trying to feed him in a more upright position. Try to slow him down by tipping the bottle out of his mouth every few swallows. Burp frequently through out the feeding. Try experiementing with different bottlesand nipples if needed.
