What do I do when preschool teacher questions my parenting skills?

First, try not to worry when a preschool teacher voices their concerns with you about your parenting skills. It's their job to discuss any concerns they see regarding your child's well being. Looking at the discussion from a team effort point of view, as in how can "we" help my child, instead of feeling defensive or criticized is more productive.

Listen to the teacher with an open mind. Are they concerned your child isn't getting enough to eat or not sleeping enough? Is there an issue with how your child is disciplined at home or if something has happened to affect your child?

Be honest with them. By not being honest, you won't be helping your child succeed in the long run. Work together with the teacher and ask what you can do at home.
