I was home schooled my whole life and enjoyed it.(I grew up in Peru and Ecuador) I never felt like I missed out on anything, on the contrary, I got to do lots of things and go places that kids in school wouldn't have been able to do Because i was homeschooled, so you can be more flexible. Still hung out with friends, socialized and played a lot of soccer. I plan to homeschool my son as well.

I have heard that if you plan to get to a point by the end of a month, quarter, semester, it's a lot less stressful on everybody than saying 'do this much today'. That way the kids can learn and don't feel pressured to be at a certain spot so quickly. If they surpass then, then make the goal higher for the next time period. And just because you see the goal, doesn't mean they need to see the goal-unless they work better when they know when they have to get things done.

I have been learning small things overtime to ready myself on homeschooling. I find myself going back and forth on ideas and curriculums. If you are considering homeschooling or already homeschooling and could use more information I have found ThehomeschoolLounge online has some great information and help especially for moms like me just trying to figure it all out.

I agree. You have to do what is best for your family. For me personally, I could not homeschool. My kids and I both frustrate each other. ha!

I know there are people out there that think this must be regulated but ... THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT IS UP FOR DEBATE! The government has no right to come into our homes and decide how we raise / homeschool our children!

I thought about homeschooling but I know both of my girls's desire to learn is going to surpass my ability to teach in a hurry. They are going to be into things in school that are going to be way above my head. I am going to be learning it as they are.

We get to control the curriculum our children are taught and that's a huge issue for us.The homeschoolers we know are grateful to be or have been homeschooled. I have yet to hear any of them say they missed out by not going to schoolI think there's a lot of misconceptions about homeschooling. It's not school at home, it's a way of life. We incorporate learning into every thing we do and that starts by teaching them to love to read and love to learn.
