Is it bad to wake a sleeping baby for a feeding?

I think the only circumstances you would need to do this or feel inclined to do so.. is if they are having trouble gaining weight and they really need those night time calories, and of course if your doctor is encouraging it too. We had to feed Monroe once throughout the night until he was 4 months old.. that sounds like a LONG time.. but it was fine.. it was our normal! He was tiny, had trouble gaining weight, and it's just what was needed to be done. Granted.. it's always sad when you are all sleeping sooooo lovely and you have to wake them to eat - lucky for us he would eat and go right back to sleep! :)
