We soothed sore bottoms by giving them a soak in the tub with just plain water. If our girls were sore our nurse practitioner suggested a vinegar bath so we'd add a couple of capfuls of vinegar.

We would also use a good diaper cream. I used Destin (sp?) but found it stung a lot more than Burt's Bees or Butt Paste, which we prefer.

Letting baby go diaperless can work wonders on a sore bottom too. We would put a waterproof pad beneath them. If they were on the move , then it is a bit more difficult to let them go around but if you can handle the accidents or have flooring that can just be wiped up, then you are good to go.

Frequent diaper changes also help a sore bottom heal faster.
