Can your newborn baby get too much sleep?

For the most part I would say no , the only time it would become an issue would be if they are sleeping through multiple feeds or you cannot get them to wake for feedings . During the day I would usually wake them after about 3-4 hours if they haven't woken on their own to eat .


I think mostly no. I think the only concern is that if baby sleeps through feedings and doesn't thrive, then you have to wake a baby so that he or she will eat. Otherwise, though, if a baby is gaining weight at an acceptable rate, it is very normal for babies to spend the majority of a day sleeping.
