How to handle boy avoiding bedtime

If our older boys are struggling to go to sleep, we tell them they can read for 15-30 minutes. Our little guys can simply be coaxed by the promise of a bedtime story and singing. I think we had more issues with our girls avoiding bedtime than our boys!

In these instances I tell him that he can go ahead and play in his bed until his clock says 8:00. We're usually done with our bath, books, and prayers by 7:40, so that gives him 20 minutes to quietly play in bed. He thinks he's getting away with something, but really I'm just giving him time to wind down from the day. It's a win win!
