PDD is a syndrome also known as pervasive developmental disorder. There are four disorders that fall under this spectrum: autism, childhood disintegrative disorder, Rett's syndrome and PDD-NOS (not otherwise specified).

What most of these have in common is expressive language difficulties and high levels of sensitivity to sensory input. Keeping these two things in mind while potty training may help you to be more successful. Children with PDD may have trouble connecting the sensation of needing to use the bathroom with the proper words. They may be very sensitive to certain toilet seats or the sound of flushing. They may be bothered by simple things like a bathroom fan running.

The best advice I can give is to pay close attention to your childs cues when it comes to needing to go and to overhelming their senses.

You know, I don't think any mother aims to be a single mom. I didn't wish for that, but it happened.
