Bleeding during the fifth week of pregnancy is common but not normal. There are many causes of bleeding in early pregnancy. Not all bleeding is an indication of miscarriage so don't get stressed if you are experiencing bleeding. Some common causes of bleeding include implantation bleeding, cervical or vaginal irritation or infection. Some serious causes of bleeding can be ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage. If you are having other symptoms such as cramping, pain, or fever give your doctor a call right away.
