Discipline strategies for teenage child with ADHD

When your ADHD teen becomes a high schooler they may find it very difficult to organize themselves. I would strongly suggest giving them lots of ways to be organized, like having a planner and having them set up important dates in their cell phone or as a Google alert.

If they refuse to use these steps, and some will because they will think they don't need to, then it's time to start enforcing some sort of penalty if they miss assignments. My kids hate this, but I do the earlier bed time because "You must be too tired to remember to do your homework, I know you wrote down what you have to do..."
