Locked child in room to sleep: is it wrong?

I don't think it is wrong to keep a toddler safe while you nap. Many parents work shift work and need to know their child will be safe if they sleep.

I also do not think it is wrong to put a child safety knob on the inside of a child's door to keep them in their bedroom for the night. We did that because I was concerned our child would get up in the middle of the night and fall down the stairs.

As long as the room they are in while you sleep is safe, secure and child proof and the child's needs have been met before placing them in the room (diaper changed or potty break, fed their meals and given drinks), I see no problem with it.
