For constipation, it is completely safe to take a stool softener. Do not take laxatives, but a stool softener will help you so you aren't straining to have a bowel movement. Drinking lots of water is also very important. Eat your fiber and fruits/veggies as well.

For the hemorrhoids, you can use witch hazel pads or over the counter ointments. If they are bad enough, you may want to ask your physician what you can use.
