Breastfeeding and ovulation: do I need to stop?

I don't think you need to stop breastfeeding for ovulation to happen. Lots of women get pregnant even while breastfeeding. If your period has begun again since birth, that's a likely sign. If you're unsure, you can also track your other symptoms like cervical mucus and basal body temperature, as well as try an ovulation predictor kit.

If you are having your period then you are ovulating. You should not need to stop breastfeeding in order to get pregnant. Breastfeeding can delay the return of your ovulation for a few months after birth. Generally after 9-12 months most womens cycles have returned to normal.
