There are lots of ideas you can use for potty reward charts but first, you have to figure out your child's "currency", so to speak. What motivates them? What do they love most in the world? Is it a food treat? Is it a toy? Is it screen time? Most children have some kind of incentive they like best.

Then you have to think about how often to reward. Will it be very time they try? Every time they produce something? One M&M for pee and two M&Ms for poop? Or will it be a long range goal over a week? For toddlers and preschoolers, it's best to give them short term goals, as in not going longer than a day but you could encourage them to build up all their daily successes for a big reward at the end of the week.

Here are some reward ideas:

- stickers

- one page at a time from a coloring book

- big kid underwear

- add blue food coloring so it turns green when they pee

- M&Ms or other small candies

Some of the best and cheapest rewards are big hugs, kisses, high 5s and "You did it! I'm so proud of you."
