Antioxidants, choline, omega-3 fatty acids, and complex carbohydrates all help boost brain development for kids. Did you know there are more foods than you realize that contain these nutrients?

Look for antioxidants in strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. Low sugar jams, smoothies, and yogurt parfaits are tasty ways to incorporate them into your child's diet.

Choline is found in egg yolks, tofu, broccoli, buckwheat, yogurt and lean meat. Try making a stir fry with lean meat or tofu and veggies served over buckwheat soba noodles.

You'll find omega-3 fatty acids in salmon, scallops, shrimp, walnuts and omega-3 enriched eggs. Shrimp fried rice with a bit of scrambled egg in it is a kid friendly dish or you could make your own trail mix with walnuts, almonds, and dried fruit.

Complex carbohydrates are found in a variety of whole grain products such as bread, pasta, crackers and cereal. Use whole grain bread for sandwiches or make oatmeal for breakfast.
