Reactive airway and asthma in children often presents very similar. In fact, it may be hard to distinguish one from the other, even for doctors! They can also be treated very similar, usually with an inhaler and/or steriod. Reactive airway is generally considered the issue if it resolves after a period of time. If it does not, then the doctor considers the diagnosis to be asthma. Keep in mind though they are used interchangeably so if the doctor says one of the other it generally means asthma.
