If you are Rh-negative, problems may arise if you are carrying a baby who is Rh-positive because there is a risk that you could develop antibodies that can cross placenta and attack the baby's red blood cells. You need Rhogam injections at 28 weeks in the first pregnancy , unless the father is also Rh-negative, in which case there is no risk that the baby's blood will be incompatible. And within 72 hours of delivery as well.

I got mine at around 24 weeks and after birth. My son I got one at 18 weeks, 24 weeks and after birth-but he was a high risk pregnancy.
