Toddler go through stages of life and anxiety is one of them, especially when it comes to new faces. Toddlers need to get out in the world to explore people and places. When your out shopping or with friends, you need to introduce him/her and have a smile on your face. When your toddler sees you interacting with other people they learn that its okay mommy knows this person and they will learn to smile and say hi to everyone.

One thing I found that worked well for her was to give her something that was mine.  So I would hand it to her as I'm walking out the door and say «OK Bella, can you hold on to this for me and keep it safe while I am gone?».  It was usually something she really liked of mine, like my photo keychain pictures of all of us on it.I think this worked because she knew I was coming back because I wanted that item back
