circumcised or uncircumcised?

Would you rather your son to be cut or uncut and why? If you have a boy that is uncircumcised, Is it easy to take care of? If he is circumcised, is it worth it? What's the benefits for both of them?

Three of our boys are circumcised and one is not. We waited too long for our last son. Our family doctor will do them in his office within the first 2-3 weeks but not past 3-4, if I remember correctly. After that time we were referred to a urologist to have it done in the hospital. Who knows of a urologist? We didn't and we did not like the idea of our son going under in the hospital, which we assumed they would do. I honestly just did not have a good feeling about it so we left him in tact.

We have had no issues with our uncircumcised son. We've had to do nothing. Our circumcised son and my husband have had no issues.

My first son (now 22) was not circumcised when he was born because his father and decided not to. But then when he was 4yrs old he was having trouble when he had to use the bathroom and at the Dr's suggestion he had to be circumcised at such an age where it was hard on him as a toddler. He had to have a gauze to cover the incision and it was not easy for him or us. Because of that experience and my current husbands experience we decided to do it from birth. It was easy and healed a lot faster. So I've experienced both.

Theresa you are correct about having to go under in the hospital. It was the most heart dropping thing for me to see them put my 4yr old under while I held his hand but I know it was the best thing for him under the circumstances.

I just couldn't do it to a newborn. I hope and pray he continues not to have any issues. He'll be four this year. What signs did your son exhibit when he started to have trouble?

He would complain about it hurting when he had to go potty. and he had some redness where the skin was. I think it was worse to have it done when he was older because as a newborn they feel it for a bit and it's over. As a 4 yr old it lasts a bit longer.

Oh I know it's harder when they are older and I sure hope my son doesn't have any issues. I was just curious in case something were to come up with him.

We circumcised our first son and will circumcise the rest. I think the benefits of circumcision way outweigh the risks of not circumcising.
