Working Mom - not enough time in the day!

Hi everyone! I am working mom with a 4 month old. With my commute, I have really long work days with being gone for nearly 12 hours each day. Any tips on how to get things done, including having a decent dinner and still get a decent amount of sleep most nights? My husbands travels for work one week a month and when he is home, he needs to help take care of his mom. So much of the responsibility on taking care of the house and errands falls to me.

Do you have good freezer meals? I've done a few, though am always looking for new ideas.

I go the easy way and buy frozen family sized meals such as lasagna. The lasagna I buy is preservative free and tastes great, it is cheaper than if I made in from scratch too. I also have found some really great frozen pasta and vegetable mixes. As nice as it would be to make dinners myself and freeze them for later I just don't have the time so the freezer section of the grocery store is my best friend.

I would prioritize. Make a list of what has to be done like dinner and sleep, then make a list of other errands and chores. Add the other things in when you can. Do not feel guilty if your house gets a little messy or if you get behind on chores. You are going to have to let some things go for awhile. You are only one person and can only do so much, it sounds like you are doing a great job. Give yourself a ton of credit for the great job you are doing!!

I spend 30-40 minutes with her each morning before I leave for work and then have 3 hours with her at night before she goes to bed.

12 hours is LONG... sorry for that, but we all have to do what we gotta do... I don't have 12 hours away and my kids are in school most of the day, but I leave after I take them to school at 7:30 and get them at 5, but i'm exhausted!! and when we get home, the breakfast dishes are still in the sink.. YUCK!.. And I'm supposed to start cooking???
Yeah... it's hard... We do a lot of soup and pasta, quick and easy... on the weekends.. I will cut up fruit and veggies and make sure I have easy sandwich items, snacks etc...

Our dinners are not exciting by any means.. we do a lot of stir fry's, pastas, salads.. and literally throw it in a blow or on a plate.. My kids eat real food, and I try to cater to their likes and needs too, but in all honesty, I gave up a while back trying to make the perfect meals and just make sure they're fed well.. Even if it's a sandwich or turkey slices or chips and salsa.. they have fruit with everything..

Good luck.. Can the person that watches your baby help with errands and chores?

My friend had child care in a facility, but then for just a little more a month she found a person to stay at home with her baby and she did housework as well... mIght be worth the extra money a month...

I work outside of the home full time and so does my husband. I cherish all the time I get to spend with my daughter.
