Tips for finding the best Christian homeschool curriculum

Pray. Pray asking God to lead you to the curriculum for your child/children.

If you can, attend a homeschool curriculum fair so you can speak to curriculum representatives and ask questions and get samples or information packets.

Ask other homeschool moms what has worked for them.

When I started I didn't have a computer to read reviews, but I read books and magazines.

Thanks for the information. I will definately be checking out these DVDs. I'm always looking for more ways to get His Story into my children.

I know my mom used Abeka as her primary resource. I have lots of friends who are using the rod and staff bible reading curriculum (it is very scripturally correct).

I have a friend who uses Abeka with her children. We have the Rod and Staff readers and use a hodge podge for the rest, except our oldest who is following Christian Liberty Press curriculum for high school .

Courtney, it depends on your state. You can find out your state requirements at www.hslda.org

I wish I knew how to get started homeschooling my teen. It's not as easy here in Massachusetts. I'd definitely be using some Christian curriculum.

Val, hslda.org should have some help for you. I know there's a lot of states on the east coast that are highly regulated, is that what you mean about it not being easy?

Veggie Tales is a cute way to see and hear bible stories and Christian based stories and songs.

I was referred to Sonlight curriculum, but I chose not to homeschool. It is definitely great if you are able to do that. Finding a group of moms in your area that homeschool helps too so you can swap ideas. I had moms give me our state's Christian homeschooling website and it was a big help, but I decided not to do it with my busy schedule so our daughter attends Christian school. And I love Veggie Tales too :)
