Playful Creativity

It seems children have the amazing creativity to make common household objects into toys. We all know boxes are a child's best toy, but what about toilet paper rolls? Swerve canisters? Here's my youngest using these items to build towers. And yes, we do have blocks. ;) The exposure of the first one was horrible last night but I needed to snap it before he moved on to the next thing.

Honestly, Brynll would rather use her toys, she is creative just not really in this aspect.

Awww.....that's so cute! Ours turn sticks into sabers, swords, canes etc. They do the blankets into capes too. I think it's fun with most things, until they get into the office supplies and kitchen utensils! ;0

Ummmmmm....... i would be panicking and terrified he would hurt himself. On the other hand, one of my greatest memories was my brother and i "mattress surfing" down the stairs. Ah, the glory days, LOL.

Our children have done that with boxes and mattresses. It always made me nervous at our old house because there was a wall at the bottom of the stairs. They haven't done it here so much but it'd be a little safer since it's open at the bottom and no wall to run into.

This looks like fun... even though it means rearranging and cleaning afterwards!

The boys are creative, Pie more than Khy, but their number one favorite thing to do is take this scene flashlight they have into the cabinets (where my pots and pans go) because it is dark and call it their castle. I have tons of pictures of them messing around in there and even some of dad trying to wriggle in lol. Mainly they just sit in there with the flashlight and squeal at each other, laughing. It is one of the few times they play together without hurting each other or getting mad at each other.

When my oldest was little I made her tracks and hubby drew buildings, a farm etc on cardboard for her to play on. We still have them, and our 6 month old will be playing with them before long!

I have yet to find a toy that my children will play with. (not counting crayons or paint) My one year old loves to collect every toy in bins or buckets and reorganizes the toy box constantly. Every now and then, we set up a "band" - Microphone = hair brush, pots and pans/wooden spoons = drums, air guitar. Most of the time we are drawing or painting.
