Mom, what do you think about going back to school?

I think going back to school is great if you have the ambition to do so. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I've considered it and even started a midwifery course but then my husband got laid off in 2008 and I had to sideline my midwifery aspirations. I do pick up farm courses here and there to further my agricultural education.

I never went to college and probably never will. I have everything I need here at home

ive thought about going back when the kids get older. I would like to finish my education degree. I think it would be an awesome thing for the kids to see mommy in college. It might encourage them to go and get a degree themselves.

Thanks, Sheila. I think it will have to wait until my children are a little older.

I've started back to college for a degree in business administration, and had a special interest in accounting. I loved it. I have about a year and a half left, but I had to quit again because of our custody battle. It was just too much to juggle with hearings, kids activities, etc...but I plan on starting yet again, and hopefully completing my degree after things settle down a little.

Three years ago I did an online study - Stratford Career Institute in Nursing Assistant. I completed the academic requirements and examinations then my diploma was sent to me by mail. Right now I am a caregiver to an elderly woman who is 78 yrs old. I am a live out but sometimes I sleep over at her house if she needed me badly. I actually finished college with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) from the Immaculate Conception University in the Philippines.

I think my situation actually says a lot about the failings of our college system. I have always like biology and been good with people. Healthcare seemed like a good option but I didn't want to be a doctor or nurse. So because I didn't know of any options in healthcare that I thought I could do I got a business degree. Now I'm in healthcare and I have no certifications to back me up. I think a lot of young people are getting degrees without truly knowing what careers are available.

It all depends on what you go to school for. College is def not for everyone. I am currently going back to school and paying out of pocket for my associates in Graphic Design. In some ways, I wish I saved my money and signed up for memberships and continued being a self taught artist. I hate being that person in class correcting the teacher. It is getting me some experience, but there are some months where I feel like I'm wasting my time. I moved states my senior year of high school and went to a private college in Texas to be an art teacher. After having a breakdown from abusive ex I had to drop say bye and leave. I ended up going to a larger university to find out that I couldn't get any financial aid since I was not considered a reside of Any state! I tried everything because I really wanted an art degree and had no where to go. I actually moved in with my husband (before we were even dating) and got a job. I ended up not moving out. Three years later I am determined to get a degree and really take myself more seriously for my children. I also plan to use the degree to help me speak to high school or other moms that want to pursue art. I'm also going to look into helping run a community center. Baby steps at a time, but I'm looking forward to this summer when I host a few lessons on painting. You are never to young or old to learn or pursue your dream!

Well, while I was pregnant with Pie I went to dental school, then while looking for a job got pregnant again lol. SO, while I was pregnant with Khydee I went for my associates in criminal justice and kind of figured it would end there, but once I finished my degree I realized I wanted to continue and get my bachelor's and it just so happens that I am pregnant again. My mom asked if I will have another and go back for my master's lol. Ummm NO! Before I had kids I had been to college but hated it and dropped out, kids really changed my mind set for the better, now I'm a giant nerd!! :)
