It is more accurate after 18weeks but sometimes they can tell sooner.

Well ... My doctor office does Gender Reveal's at week 15 if you want one. I am actually scheduled for one next week. But ... I am 36 and have had two previous miscarriages so I had the NT Scan done and Panorama test. The blood test came back with positive its a GIRL :) Thats how I know for sure so soon :)

At about 6 weeks the mother and child share some of their blood. So they draw blood from the mom. They separate the blood. It checks for different types of Trisomy too which is my main reason for having the test done. But it also checks for X and Y chromosomes. If there are no Y chromosomes visible then you know your having a girl because you have X and if your baby has x too then its a girl. If there is Y chromosomes then you know its a boy because obviously ... the y isnt coming from you :)

You can read more about the test here: http://www.panoramatest.com/
There are different tests but this is the one I was given. It took them 8 business days to get my results back.

How much did it cost? I know my insurance refused to pay for it so I didn't get it done. I did have to have an amnio with my last baby due to a medical issue so we found out her official gender that way.

I agree!! I am still keeping my gender reveal for next Thursday so I can get pics and also confirm by US. But I was told the blood test was 99.9% accurate. Cant beat that lol. I also have an u/s tomorrow to check on her and make sure she is doing okay.

Hopefully your baby cooperates and let's you see. Sometimes they like to be stinkers and keep their legs crossed.

Yeah I know but the good thing is .... with the gender reveal I am paying out of pocket for it. So they will keep trying until they find out :)

Thats all I was concerned about was it being healthy and having a heartbeat! I could have cared less if it was a boy or girl. Although its kind of neat that it is a girl because now I have two of each. My dad was very sick from the time my daughter was born up until she turned one. He passed away shortly after that of colon cancer. So honestly ... everything for her first couple of years to me ... just was a blur. Its like I was so upset with the loss of my dad I didn't get to take in and enjoy my little girl as much as I would have liked. So I think its nice that this one ended up being a girl. My daughter is now 12 and she is super excited she is having a sister :)

Thank you very much. My youngest who is 7 wants to name her Avery ;)

He wanted a baby brother. His name is Brock so if it was a boy he wanted to name it Rock lol. But since its a sister he came up with Avery on his own and wants to name her that :)

Tomorrow is the big day for the Gender Reveal. I did decide to keep my appointment so that I can have extra confirmation from my blood work stating that she is a girl :)

Cant wait! Plus it gives me a chance to see her again and make sure all is still going well for her!!!
