Little ones wanted to be like their big sister

The younger ones wanted to sew like their big sister. Youngest daughter used the sewing machine for the first time today to do practice on scraps of fabric, youngest son played with the tread and generally wanted to mess with the machines, 6 year old sewed buttons for the first time and 10 year old was...cannot remember what he was doing but it looks like they were having fun, doesn't it?

That's what I have always thought too. Good for you for teaching your stepdaughter!

Amazing how you manage all your kids! What was your daughter trying to sew? I've been trying some sewing myself these days

She's making a Liberty Day dress for an event we have coming up on March. Here's a play by play of today's sewing project :)

Nope, my patience grew as my family grew. It sure didn't happen at once. They really didn't need that much help today. The older girls helped too and they figured things out for themselves.

that is so great...my 11 year old is wanting me to teach her how to sew. So, I believe we may start with doll clothes...

I think that's a great place to start. Doll clothes are small and quick to make, though the tiny seams can be tricky.
