Yes, I made sure at least every other day (or when I bathed her ) that I cleaned it with the antiseptic solution that they gave me, because rubbing alcohol dries out a babies skin, and I also applied A&D ointment.

Three months after, my daughter had a reaction and her pediatrician gave me a prescription ointment and my mother advised vitamin e oil also, and it cleared right up! The thing is, pediatricians would rather you use them to pierce ears than go to the mall, I went to the mall. Either way every baby is different, and may have a reaction going to the pediatrician or the mall. I hope I helped, good luck!

Oh, don't do it!! Babies are so perfect the way they are - I'm personally not a fan of earrings on babies or little girls. Once they become pre-teens or teens and they indicate an interest, that is the time to get it done. That way, girls can learn to take care of it themselves. Plus, it's a good "incentive" - as in, when you [insert desired behaviour here], then Mom will get you earrings :-)

Wow... I guess I am the "mean" mom here! My daughter is 10 and wants her ears pierced... I keep saying no... maybe when she can keep her room clean for more than a day I will rethink! LOL!

My girls got theirs done last year the week between their bdays so Zayla just turned 3 and Myla was about o turn 4. They wanted them done, I was waiting until they decided they wanted them. Surprisingly they took very good care of them everyday they would bring me a qtip and the antiseptic stuff and say mommy clean my ears. They've only been infected once and that was because they had an ear infection.

I was unsure about when to pierce our daughter's ears. However, at her two months check and shots, I asked our ped. She said this was this a good age and if they cry, it is because of being restrained or the noise of the piercing instrument. She gave me some suggestions for moms having their daughter's ears pierced. They helped me find the right person and place.

Took her to where our ped said they were the most professional with training and experience. In less than minute after both piercings were done, she was smiling. She cried A LOT longer during the dot drawing and cleaning. I almost thought it was too good to be true (I'm sure it did hurt!) so I walked around with her crying for less than a minute but sure enough, she was fine! We decided just to head home and we were in the car about 5 minutes and she was asleep!

It went waaaay better than expected and so far so good! I have to clean them 3-4 times a day and twist them around and push them in and out a bit but she doesn't seem to mind. She lets me do it each time I change her diaper and no problems!

If any moms would like our peds tips, then write me an e-mail.
