Be sure of your diagnosis

After many years in education I have seen students mimic symptoms of ADD and ADHD because of learning struggle. I often question if it is the chicken or the egg. If your child is behind and struggling in school then it is very difficult for them to engage in the classroom so they won't. I would be sure that I am very aware of any academic struggles they are having and find some help addressing them as you are looking at treatments.

Very true points. My little brother was misdiagnosed and over medicated. His problems in school were due to memorization of the eye charts. He was afraid he would "fail" his tests. We found out when he was 16 that he was practically blind.

Oh my, Amanda. It must have been a progressive thing then because wouldn't your brother have had eye exams for or at school? How is he now?

Our local schools all used the same eye chart. He is now 26. He had memorized 2 or 3 different charts, and could see enough to make out which chart was being used.
