Best Time for Epidural

The best time to get an epidural is generally between 4-8cm but you can get an epidural at anytime during labor. If you get an epidural before 4cm it increases your chances of your labor stalling and needing pitocin to restart your labor. An epidural takes about 30minutes to take full effect so if it is gotten after 8cm it might not be effective during the most painful part of labor and during pushing. Do what feels right for you and ask your doctor for advice.

Some hospital have a policy not to let you get an epidural after a certain point but not all do.
Im right there with you Kim :) both my pregnacies were induced so I got my epidural as soon as I was uncomfortable and in pain.
