Is dancing your preferred exercise? I prefer walking or natural physical activity (gardening, cleaning, unloading 400 lbs of feed etc.)

That's neat. Our children have expressed an issue in martial arts, mostly for self-defense. We just haven't found a way to fit our schedule or come up with the money yet to allow them to participate. Do you think it's good for teaching self-control? I've heard things like that and wondered if it's true. Thought as an instructor you could have some good input.

It does teach self control but just make sure you check out the instructor. A good head instructor will help kids be aware of when force is needed and let them know that if something arises that you should try every other avenue first. It also helps kids with self control in other areas like acting out for attention because they get it in class, and patience learning to wait their turn to do whatever activity they are doing.

Ok, another question, how do you know if the instructor is good or not? What questions do you recommend asking without coming across as offensive?
