Push Your Baby Out
On average it takes 1-3 hours to push a baby out. The average for first time moms is 2 hours. Some moms can push their baby out in just minutes.
The length of time it takes to push out your baby depends on many factors. An epidural can increase the length of pushing. The position of the baby can increase or decrease the length. The position of the mom effects it as well. You also don't want to push the baby out too fast because that can increase your risk of tearing.
Trust your instincts, get into a position that feels right to you, change positions while pushing based on your instincts. The medical staff should also be able to give you advice as well. Don't fight the contractions, relax your bottom and work with them.
