Now you can only use the LOWER ANCHORS of LATCH until the weight of your child and the car seat combined weigh 65 lbs. Once they hit this weight, you must use a seat belt to install the car seat. *****This does not apply to non-harnessed booster seats that use LOWER ANCHORS to install (such as Clek) because the Lower Anchors are just holding the seat in place and the child is actually being restrained by the vehicle's safety belt). Speaking of Clek, the Foonf does allow use of Lower Anchors and seat belt together when installed FF, but this is the ONLY convertible seat that does. ALWAYS just use Lower Anchors OR seat belt to install other than the Foonf--one OR the other...not both.

ALWAYS use the tether in forward-facing seats, and make sure you use it in rear-facing seats if allowed by manufacturer. Read those manuals!!!!

For more information, keep your eyes on The Car Seat Lady (who also made this graphic).

'Scuse the nincompoop here.. That is so flipping confusing! I was told to go by limits on car seats.. My son was put in a booster early because of how we all fit in the car we had the time, my husband is so tall that if we were to get in an accident, our son would have been seriously injured because daddy would end up in his lap-so the state trooper told us to put him in a booster. I plan on keeping the two year old in a 5 point as long as possible-as long as the seat allows and the baby rear facing as long as her weight and the seat allows.
Could you please explain? You can message if that would be easier...
Now, that being said.. I wish the states would all have one law.. When we go to Florida or Washington State (IF..I should say IF....) Not only will all our children have to to be in a five point, but I have to be in a booster seat because I'm short and small (there was no age limit my family heard, just height and weight). I completely understand the safety reasons-please don't think I don't-but at what point is it that our muscles are strong enough to handle some impact, as that's reason I always get as to why they keep changing the laws.
Seriously wanting answers... I'm headed off to the state patrol website to recheck our laws... :)
