Attempting our routine! :)

Right now.. Monroe is 3 weeks old.. I was clueless a week ago how to even START setting up sleep habits or a routine.. but then I got some advice and really thought about it.. even creating a "routine" can help.. sure it won't happen to a tee every night or go exactly as planned.. but consistency is KEY! So right now, after his last late night feeding, 9 or 10 pm.. we change him into his jammies, swaddle him, turn the lights down, rock him a bit until he seems sleepy and lay him in his bassinet. We've done this the past few nights and it seems to help trigger when sleep time is! Then, throughout the night, when he wakes to eat, I feed him, we change him and quickly swaddle, rock and lay back down in his bassinet, keeping lights at a minimum! Oh also, noise.. we are using the SAME white noise each time he sleeps at night.. this "ocean" sound... so hopefully that will start triggering when night time is! It's different from the noise for naptime!

Sophia sleeps with a blankie as well. She hugs it so tight. Both. She needs me to rub her back for her to fall asleep and if she wakes up at 3 am usually she can't put herself to sleep. She needs me again to go rub her back and this could take up to an hour at bedtime and an hour n the middle of the night. I've tried it all. At one point when she was younger she would fall asleep on her own this was around 3-4 months, at about 5-6 months she would fall asleep with me bending over the crib and giving her some chamomile in a bottle, at about 6-7 months I would rock her to sleep, and now 8-9 months I rub her back and play with her hair. Somewhere around 5-6 months I let her cry it out for 5 days and she would put herself to sleep after that on her own. But she got sick with RSV and once she started to feel better I couldn't bare to do it again.
