so when my boss told me i could go on maternity leave, he never said i was going to have to get hired back. Does this mean i was fired? I didn't think they could do that!

What kind of work is it? How big is the company?

In order for FMLA to apply you need to have been employed for at least a year and the company needs to have 50 employees within 50 miles of your location. Some states or companies may have other laws or policies. Is there a HR manager you can speak with?

Many of those laws don't apply to smaller companies, though some of them adjust and make their own policies or certain states have passed other laws. It is tough when you work for a smaller employer (my husband does) and they are not eligible for some of those benefits. Do your research to find out what applies to you!

I think you have to work for the company for 12months before you qualify for FMLA.
