From bottle to breast?

Has anyone been able to have their baby go from bottle to breast?

I have a 9 week old and unfortunately since he spent a week in NICU he was given bottle, and ive tried to get him to latch on to my breast be he will fight it most of the time.

Ive tried skin to skin and expressing. Im about to give up trying.

Very similar, I was I could have had a natural birth but i guess God had other plans. Thanks for sharing your story with me.

Im actually drinking plenty of water and taking fenugreek which has worked like a charm considering the fact that my son wont latch on (he will do it for maybe 3 minutes before he realizes that its not the bottle) and I'm also pumping about every 4- 5 hours. So i think my supply is okay. Im hoping it will go up if he latches on eventually.

Thanks again for your input, makes me feel that im not alone and that someone out there understands me.

Have you tried a nipple shield yet? A nipple shield can be very helpful at getting a NICU baby to breastfeed. I strongly suggest seeing a lactation consultant for help. Look into Breastfeeding USA or La Leche League, both offer free support.

I suggest a lactation consultant or La Leche League or if you are fortunate enough a doctor who is also a lactation consultant.
