Ban bossy

Do you call your daughter/student/niece/any little girl you know "bossy" when she shows leadership or initiative? I *may* have heard that once or twice or a hundred times when I was younger, and even still see it as in issue with women in my field today. Let's ‪#‎banbossy‬ from our vocabulary, and encourage both our sons and daughters to rise to their full potential.

I agree that there is a difference between bossiness and leadership! What I have observed is that the same/similar behaviour for a girl/woman will be called bossy, while it will be described as a "go getter" or "leadership" for a boy /man. That is wrong and hurtful and sends the wrong message.
I liked this too, just would like to see the same message for Canadian kids.

I'm a working mom of 4. My husband, kids and I live in Toronto, Canada. I love to read pretty much anything I can get my hands on, am addicted to chocolate and kissing my kids' necks (they all still let me do it!) and am a bit of a political junkie.
