It is important to remember that your due date is just a guess and it can be off by approximately two weeks. You pregnancy may last from 39-42 weeks and that is normal. Many healthcare providers suggest waiting for your labor to start on it's own up until 40 weeks as long as mom and baby are both healthy and there are no signs of complications.

If you baby is past 40 weeks and you have having no signs of labor your healthcare provider might recommend induction. There are a variety of way to induce your labor and your doctor will evaluate you and determine which way will work best for you.
