..paci, binkie.. yes or no!?

Mamas.. absolutely NO judgement, but I just wanted to get an idea of whose kiddos used/use a paci/binkie/whatever you call it :)

Were you okay with them using it? Did you wait awhile? Do you not believe in using them? Do they self soothe themselves differently?

Monroe uses a paci.. but doesn't need it.. it helps soothe him sometimes and we have noticed he will nibble on his fingers or thumb to soothe if we don't let him have a paci... so I would rather him not use his hand :)

Nothing wrong with a pacifier, it can even reduce the risk of SIDS. I suggest waiting until breastfeeding is well established first. Since you posted about his weight issues I would be cautious that he is not using to pacifier to satisfy his hunger urges. As long as you are meeting his needs and he is eating enough there is nothing wrong with a paci.

Two of mine loved the paci and two didn't have any interest.

I started off not doing the pacifier and introduced it too late she doesn't want it. Selena will play with it but wont help her sleep any.

She also likes to roll on her side to sleep.

Avery used a Paci when she was brand new but was never very into it. She'd only keep it in her mouth for a few minutes at a time. By 3mo she would just spit them out if we tried to give it to her and she started sucking on her middle fingers. I know the Paci is better for their teeth then fingers are, but I couldn't get her to switch. Even when her fingers got all chapped and cracked!

Ever since she got her teeth she doesn't suck in her fingers quite as much. Only when she's really upset about something or when she's falling asleep. Hopefully she'll grow out of it completely soon.

Our first two were thumb suckers. Our first had a blankie and our second had a little stuffed eeyore. The rest didn't use a pacifier or thumb as they seem to get enough suckling at the breast.
