Do you yell at your kids?

I feel bad because I do yell at my kids. I would love to stop but every time I try it just doesn't last for very long. I have read many articles with advice on how to stop the yelling. If you are able to parent with no yelling please share your tips and advice.

Do you yell at your kids? Do you think it is ok to yell at your kids?

I am proud to say that I rarely yell... That doesn't mean I'm perfect and don't raise my voice, but I rarely YELL... And when I do, it's usually out of frustration or exasperation... when I've hit my wall of asking them to do things or to stop bickering or pick up or whatever it is.. It's usually me sort of yelling INTO the air, that they have to stay focused and do their part or they will lose their privileges... But I;'m not quick to yelling..

It doesn't work. they build up a tolerance to yelling.. it doesn't effect them like we want it to..

I've found that a stern, harsh voice and look is enough to scare the crap out of them and know that Uh Oh.. I'm not kidding.. this is about to get real...

I think the tricks to NOT yelling.. is to stop and figure out at WHO.. WHY.. will it work? Try a different tactic... Easier said than done.. I know this.. when you \re at a point you don't care if you're yelling.. SO. before you get there.. make your warnings.. ask them the things they need to do... BEFORE you hit that edge...

I believe there is a difference in yelling at your children and raising your voice sternly with them....however, children mimic what they see and hear...If you constantly yell, they will be tempted to constantly yell. They may begin to think it is okay if they yell at you because you yell at them...I hope that makes sense. I own a child care center and we have to be careful with this. We make sure the children realize that there are inside voices and outside voices and if we raise our voice they will call us out on it and tell us to use our inside voices. Hope this helps!! God Bless!

Well, I probably yell very, very rarely then. But I still don't like how often I have to raise my voice and talk meanly to them.
