..in one word.. GENTLY!

You should not use a q-tip! Heck YOU shouldn't even use a q-tip for your own ears! You can gently wipe their ears with a warm and wet wash cloth.. or wipe with water during bath time too.. ears can clean themselves when being bathed easily.. but just make sure to keep dirt out of them and if you ever notice build up.. clean more regularly!

Kim I have but I have yet to try it out. I always think of my husband's ear cleaning as candling but that's probably the wrong term.

Some of my children are the worst wax producers. It looks like molasses. (I think I've said this somewhere else on Moms.com)

I use q-tips all the time even though I know they are not recommended. Not so much for infants but our children and I. I have sensitive ears and can feel the slightest trickle of wax, it bugs me and a q-tip gets rid of it for me.
