So I'm 31 weeks pregnant and only gained about 20 pounds since I became pregnant. My doctor says I'm a little underweight and not gaining enough. I was and still am a a very petite woman. Pre - pregnancy weight was only 98 pounds. The doctor suggested drinking a full glass of whole milk a day to help with the weight gain. Are there any other ways to help me gain more?

I was heavier with most of my pregnancies so they were never concerned with me gaining. I even lost weight in my pregnancy with my first son and only gained 15-20 lbs and he was still one of my larger babies at 9 lbs 8 oz. No gestational diabetes or anything.

I agree with Christina. Do what your doctor recommended and eat nutrient dense foods and your baby should be fine, especially if she is growing well. Try adding nuts to your diet, if you are not allergic, as they are high in protein and good fats.
I was just like you, but I put on another 8 pounds in my last 8 weeks. It was weird. I struggled to put on weight the whole time but at the end I felt like a balloon! I didn't really change my diet at all. But I did allow myself to indulge more often. I think you just need to listen to your body and eat when your hungry.

The good news is the baby weight went away really fast for me. I was back to my pre-preg weight within 8wks an now I actually way less then I did before.
