Found spotting of blood in my baby girl diaper, is that normal?
A female infant may have a little bloody vaginal discharge in her diaper due to the withdrawal of maternal hormones after delivery. This usually stops as the hormones return to normal levels.
It is not normal to have blood in the baby's diaper, although it may not always be something "serious". Check with your doctor. Causes can include protein allergy, hard stools, rectal fissures, vaginal bleeding, diaper rash or "false blood" caused by foods or crystals in the diaper. If in doubt, try to bring the diaper to the doctor with you, for testing.
